De Lima Congratulates Newly Appointed Chief Justice Sereno

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima congratulates the newly appointed Supreme Court Chief Justice, Maria Lourdes Aranal Sereno. Chief Justice, Sereno took her oath of office before President Aquino in MalacaƱang on Saturday morning.

"I congratulated her and I said that the Supreme Court will now be in good hands," de Lima told reporters.

"Her youth and brilliance would go a long way in ensuring that we can look forward to a judiciary that would be worthy of the people's trust," de Lima added.

Robredo Plane Crash Not The First For Aviatour

Well, to start with my new blog, coming from a very long vacation...if I could call that a vacation...I want to talk about the recent plane crash that killed Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary, Jesse Robredo and 2 pilots.

I read a report in abs-cbnnews.com saying that the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) will soon start the investigation into the plane crash as soon as all the bodies and the plane wreckage have been retrieve.

According to CAAP Director General William Hotchkiss, all aircraft owned by the operator of the ill-fated Piper Seneca plane have been grounded pending the investigation.

Authorities identified two suspects in the Mangudadatu attempted assassination

Two suspects in the Mangudadatu attempted assassination has been identified by the authorities, as one of the suspects is already in the custody of the police.

The buyer of the Kia Avella, which was used in the car bombing incident and the other suspect who left the vehicle in the blast site have been accused suspects in the alleged attack against Maguindanao Governor, Esmael "Toto" Mangudadatu.

Those killed and injured in the Mangudadatu attempted assassination

The attempted assassination of Maguindanao Gov. Esmael "Toto" Mangudadatu on Monday using a car bomb which exploded as the governor's convoy was passing by, killed two people and injured six others.

Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in Western Mindanao, Police Director, Felicisimo Khu said that the explosion hit a black Toyota Fortuner (LGU 933) owned by Datu Russman Sinsuat, which is part of Mangudadatu's convoy.

The artist, Mideo Cruz, who created the controversial "art" pieces of religious images with phallic symbols, snubs the Senate committee inquiry on the "Kulo" exhibit at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).

Philippine Dragon Boat team members wont received incentives

According to the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the Philippine dragon boat team members will not receive incentives from the Philippine government.

The PSC said that the National Sports Associations (NSAs) and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) does not consider the Philippine dragon boat team members as national athletes.

Father of Davao punching Mayor Sara Duterte, Vice-Mayor Rodrigo Duterte tells his critics that the dirty finger which he flashed in public on Monday was a "freedom of expression."
