Typhoon Lawin September 28 Weather Update

According to PAGASA on its 4:00 PM weather report, the eye of Typhoon LAWIN (JELAWAT) was located based at 365 KM Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (23.7°N, 124.5°E) with maximum sustained winds of 175 KPH near the center and gustiness of up to 210 KPH.

Typhoon LAWIN is forecast to move Northeast at 17 KPH. Batanes Group of Islands will experience rains with gusty winds. The regions of Ilocos, Cagayan valley, Cordillera, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Metro Manila will be cloudy with occasional light to moderate rains or thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Tropical Storm Lawin Weather Update

According to PAGASA on their 4:00 PM weather update, the Tropical Storm LAWIN (JELAWAT) was estimated at 405 KM East of Borongan, Eastern Samar (12.0°N, 129.6°E) with maximum sustained winds of 105 KPH near the center and gustiness of up to 135 KPH.

Tropical Storm LAWIN is forecasted to move North Northwest slowly as Eastern Samar will experience stormy weather with rough to very rough seas. Sorsogon, Leyte province and the rest of Samar province will have rains and gusty winds.

MIMAROPA, CALABARZON, Mindanao and the rest of Bicol region and of Visayas will have cloudy skies with occasional moderate to heavy rains. While, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rain showers and thunderstorms.

Typhoon KAREN PAGASA Update

According to PAGASA, at 4:00 AM today, Typhoon KAREN was located at 740 KM East of Tuguegarao City with maximum sustained wind of up to 185 KPH near the center and gustiness of up to 220 KPH. Typhoon KAREN is forecasted by PAGASA to move North Northwest at 15 KPH.

PASASA estimates 15-30 mm of rainfall per hour within the 550 KM diameter of the Typhoon.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of the country due to strong winds generated by Typhoon KAREN.

Philippine Weather Update: ITCZ affecting Visayas

Search a couple of news websites to somehow explain to me why I was late for work last Tuesday due to a heavy rain on Monday morning, and here are some of the answers I got.

GMA News: PAGASA forecaster Jun Galang in an interview on dzBB radio said that Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon is expected to have "generally good weather" except for rain showers of thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

Typhoon Igme August 22 Update

At 4:00 a.m. August 22, the eye of Typhoon Igme was located at 320 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

According to PAGASA, Typhoon Igme is moving West Northwest slowly, however, a new typhoon is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning.

The new typhoon with international name Bolaven, was located at 1,600 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon as of 5 a.m. today.

PAGASA Weather Report on Sept 15 about the LPA at Batanes

Weather update on September 15 shows that the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was located at 300 km East of Basco, Batanes according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA weather forecast said that the Northern and Central Luzon and the western section of Southern Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with scattered to widespread rains over Batanes Group of Islands, Palawan and Mindoro Provinces.

Typhoon Mina Friday Weather Update

Typhoon "Mina" was located 170 km East of Casiguran, Aurora on Friday, August 26 according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Bagyong Mina has maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph and is forecast to move Northwest at 9 kph.

Bagyong Mina Update: Tropical Depression Mina intensified into a Tropical Storm

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical And Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), on Tuesday, August 23, Tropical Depression “Mina” has intensified into a Tropical Storm.

Tropical Storm "Mina" was estimated at 355 km East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

PAGASA said that "Bagyong Mina" is forecast to move North at a very slow speed of 5 kph.

Tropical Depression Mina Storm Update Tuesday, August 22

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Tropical Depression "Mina" is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon and will bring scattered to widespread rains over Southern Luzon and Visayas.

Tropical Depression "Mina" was located 350 km East Southeast of Virac, Catanduanes and has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center.

DepEd suspends classes due to heavy rain and winds caused by Bagyong Juaning

Due to heavy rain and strong winds caused by the Tropical Storm Juaning, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced the suspension of classes on Tuesday in some areas in Luzon.
