Ordinance in Boracay to Help Protect its White Sand

Authorities of Malay, Aklan has recently amended the Municipal Ordinance 310 that protects the legendary white sands of Boracay.

According to a report from the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the Municipal Ordinance 310, bans people from collecting Boracay's famous white sand and pebbles.

Under the ordinance, first-time offenders will be fined P2,500 or imprisoned for one to three months, or both, depending on the decision of the court.

Joseph Urbiztondo was arrested on July 6, 1996 for the crime and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Urbiztondo, 41 yrs old and a native of Bacoor, Cavite has been in jail in Kuwait Central Jail for 16 years now. However, Urbiztondo claims that he was framed.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima congratulates the newly appointed Supreme Court Chief Justice, Maria Lourdes Aranal Sereno. Chief Justice, Sereno took her oath of office before President Aquino in Malacañang on Saturday morning.

PRC announced on Thursday that 27,823 out of 60,895 (45.69%) have passed the Nurse Licensure Examination.

Remains of Captain Jessup Bahinting retrieved from Piper Seneca plane crash that killed Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary, Jesse Robredo.

In his Twitter account, Transport Secretary Mar Roxas said that another body was retrieved from the plane's fuselage and was lifted from the seabed Wednesday afternoon.

Roxas said that the body was first “unrecognizable, though with a ring.”

Typhoon Igme August 22 Update

At 4:00 a.m. August 22, the eye of Typhoon Igme was located at 320 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

According to PAGASA, Typhoon Igme is moving West Northwest slowly, however, a new typhoon is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning.

The new typhoon with international name Bolaven, was located at 1,600 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon as of 5 a.m. today.

Robredo Plane Crash Not The First For Aviatour

Well, to start with my new blog, coming from a very long vacation...if I could call that a vacation...I want to talk about the recent plane crash that killed Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary, Jesse Robredo and 2 pilots.

I read a report in abs-cbnnews.com saying that the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) will soon start the investigation into the plane crash as soon as all the bodies and the plane wreckage have been retrieve.

According to CAAP Director General William Hotchkiss, all aircraft owned by the operator of the ill-fated Piper Seneca plane have been grounded pending the investigation.
