Typhoon Igme August 22 Update

At 4:00 a.m. August 22, the eye of Typhoon Igme was located at 320 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

According to PAGASA, Typhoon Igme is moving West Northwest slowly, however, a new typhoon is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning.

The new typhoon with international name Bolaven, was located at 1,600 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon as of 5 a.m. today.
According to reports, Bolaven which will be locally named Julian once it enters PAR, will affect the movement of the exiting Typhoon Igme.


The Joint Pacific Typhoon Warning Center said as of 2 a.m. Manila time, Bolaven was packing maximum sustained winds of 129.6 kph. Bolaven is forecast to get stronger at 148.1 kph at 2 p.m.

Meanwhile, storm signal warning number 1 remains hoisted over Batanes Group of Islands due to typhoon Igme.
