An Intensity 4 earthquake was felt in the city of Manila

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit parts of Metro Manila and Central Luzon on Tuesday at 1:15 a.m. according to the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology Institute (Philvolcs).

The earthquake was recorded at Intensity IV in Clark, Pampanga, Quezon City and the City of Manila. While in Makati, Pasig, Taguig and Mandaluyong tremores was recorded at Intensity III and Intensity II in Baguio City.

The Luzon earthquake was also felt in surrounding areas like Cainta and San Mateo towns in Rizal.

Fortunately, there were no reports of any casualties nor heavy damages.

The US Geological Service (USGS) said that the earthquake epicenter was at 102 km west-northwest of Metro Manila; 24 km northwest of Olongapo City; 54 km west-southwest of Angeles City in Pampanga; and 108 km west-southwest of Cabanatuan City.

The USGS also recorded the earthquake at magnitude 5.9. USGS also said the earthquake struck at a depth of 61.3 km.

Meanwhile, Phivolcs said that the earthquake origin was tectonic and shallow (10 km below ground), with its epicenter 13 km northwest of Iba, Zambales.
