August 29 and 30, 2011 Non-Working Holiday Philippines

Malacañang has declared dates of August 29 and 30, 2011 Non-Working Holiday, making it a 4-day long weekend for some sectors in the Philippines

The Palace has declared non-working holidays on August 29 (Monday) and August 30 (Tuesday) when the National Heroes' Day is celebrated on August 29 while the end of Ramadan falls on August 30.

Section 2 of Proclamation 84 states that the proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of end of Ramadan "shall hereafter be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient. To this end, the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President on which day the holiday shall fall."

However, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte, through social networking site Twitter, clarified that August 27 (Saturday) has not been declared a holiday.
