ABS-CBN donated P1 million to the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation

The Philippine Dragon Boat Federation received P1 million donation from ABS-CBN aside from the P1.4 million cash reward from the members of the House of Representatives.

The Philippine dragon boat team who won 5 gold medals and 2 silvers from the recent International Dragon Boat Federation World Championships in Tampa Bay, Florida have arrived in the country on Friday and was welcomed by their fans and media at the airport.

Meanwhile, the team's members have become instant celebrities and spent their first day back in the country as guests on ANC, dzMM and TV Patrol.

ABS-CBN also hosted a dinner and program, complete with performances from stars such as Marie Digby, Randy Santiago, and Rico J. Puno and a P1-million gift to the team capped their visit to the Kapamilya network.

Earlier, in a privilege speech, Rep. Rodolfo Albano (1st District, Isabela) urged his fellow congressmen to contribute P5,000 each for the 20-member Philippine Dragon Boat team.

The P5,000 cash grant which will be deducted from the monthly salaries of the 285 congressmen will sum up to P1,425,000. Albano said that the contribution will be pledged to finance the team’s continued training and development.
