A search warrant was served at Calayan’s West Hollywood clinic after they received complaints that the Calayan Medical Clinic had opened a medical practice in Los Angeles where cosmetic surgical procedures, including laser and Botox treatments, were being performed.
The medical board began investigating Calayan when patients claimed they were injured by laser treatments. The sting operation alleged that a female staffer at the West Hollywood clinic diagnosed a medical condition and performed medical procedures without a proper medical license.
The Medical Board of California’s Spokesperson Jennier Simoes confirmed that Calayan’s West Hollywood office has been shut down, but declined to offer further details.
The board has referred the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The District Attorney’s Office said they have not yet begun processing the case.
Eric Calayan, a relative, said that Manny Calayan is in Manila, but will issue a statement soon.
Meanwhile, operations at the Calayan’s West Hollywood branch have been put on hold; pending the investigation.
