Smart Gilas Pilipinas wins vs Chinese Taipei 82-72, congratulations!

Congratulations and job well done to the Smart Gilas Pilipinas by winning vs Chinese-Taipei, 82-72, and for grabbing the 3rd place in the 2011 William Jones Cup.

The Philippine national basketball team, with the big help of the naturalized Filipino citizen, Marcus Douthit defeated the host country to the dismay of the hostile crowd at the Hsinchuang Gymnasium in New Taipei, Taiwan.

Marcus Douthit's 28 points and 11 rebounds helped the Nationals past the Chinese Taipei national basketball team at the 33rd William Jones Cup basketball tournament on Sunday, August 14.

While, Marcio Lassiter (16 points), Dondon Hontiveros (13 points) and Mark Barroca (10 points) stepped up for the Nationals in the absence of JV Casio who had a swollen knee and Chris Lutz, having a swollen elbow during the game.

The courageous efforts of the Nationals payed off for grabbing the 3rd place on the Jones Cup 2011, after a bitter lost against Iran, who later defeated South Korea in the Championship Game.
