Stabbed victim Miss Earth 2008, Karla Paula Henry in stable condition

After the stabbing incident, Miss Earth 2008, Karla Paula Henry is now in stable condition after she was stabbed in the back by suspect Jherome Quibuyen on Thursday morning.

Dr. Lei Vital said that a tube had to be inserted between Karla's lung and chest wall because Karla is having trouble breathing. "Right now, she's much better," added Dr. Vital.

Dr. Vital said that the tube will be removed after 3 days, while, no further complications are expected because Karla's spinal column was spared from the stabbing.

The 2008 Miss Earth was stabbed while she was on her way back to her condominium in Mandaluyong City by a drunk tenant, who was later identified as Jherome Quibuyen. The beauty queen was rushed to St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City.

Quibuyen, on the other hand, denied the incident. "Suspect pa lang po ako. Hindi po ako naglalasing doon. Sa condo po ako nag-iinom," he said. Quibuyen will be charged with a frustrated murder case.

Meanwhile, Henry’s mother, Nenita Ginteroy said, “I dont know if I hate him (Quibuyen). Now is not the moment. Hindi ngayon eh. We’re more focused na gumaling siya (Henry) kasi malayo naman na mangyari sa kanya ‘yun kasi she’s a very good person naman e.”

The Filipino-Canadian beauty won the Miss Earth pageant in 2008, while becoming the first Filipina to win the title.
